The Last of Us: Part 2 The Aquarium - Glass Showcase

PSA: This was shot in 1080p but with Youtubes compression causing issues I exported at 4k. Strongly recommend watching at 1440p or 4k.

This is a showcase reel for the glass in the Aquarium level of the Last of us Part: 2. I was the Environment texture and shader artist for the Aquarium Level creating the majority of the look for all the glass. I alongside Anthony Vaccaro (Environment Artist) built the level from scratch.

Much of the glass in this video utilizes our refraction tech, there is also snippets of Alpha blended glass for the stadium area that is simulating a fake waterline for the ocean. For the most part our glass in the Aquarium is multilayered and stacked. Our amazing programmers, Hawar Doghramachi, Ke Xu, Vincent Marxen, and Artem Kovalovs did some amazing work making this tech both affordable and visually excellent!

Thank you to Steven Tang for the excellent work and footprint of the waterstreaks running down glass. I took and built more shaders out of the tech and utilized them all over the Aquarium. As well as setting up real time reflections on some of the glass floors!

This tech still being expensive was a challenge while also dealing with all the sorting of the different panes of glass overlapping. It took a lot of work from myself and the tech art team to get this all working. Thank you!

as always making games is a team effort, please see the credits in the first video for the full Aquarium team!
I hope you enjoy this video
